Anita C. "A.J." Johnson, age 86, passed away December 29, 2020 in Bedford Texas. Born in Oak Cliff December 28, 1934 to Willie Bell (Sturges) and Ernest Calaway, she leaves behind an indelible legacy to all who knew and loved her. She was a resident of Irving for over fifty years. A devoted member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church where she was very involved. From teaching Sunday school when her children were young, to taking mission trips, to singing in the church choir, which she especially enjoyed. Her zest for life extended to all her endeavors. Playing games 42, Pokeno, Bunco to name a few; to the ritual watching of her morning game shows, The Price Is Right and Lets Make A Deal. A.J. enjoyed road trips, gospel concerts and always dressed to impress. Her most precious endeavor and greatest source of joy however came from her children and grandchildren. They came first and was her number one priority.
A.J. was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin A. Johnson Jr. and her sister, Sylvia Burks. She is survived by sons, Blake Johnson and wife Ann Janssen of Houston, Clay Johnson and wife Amy of Euless, Russell Lynn and wife Stephanie of California; daughters, Dina Carter and husband Geoff of Arlington, Sharon McKinley and husband Tom of California; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
