Anita Marguerite Caraway, 86, of Cisco, went home to be with the Lord Saturday evening, July 30, 2022 at The Woodlands Care Center in Eastland. Born June 18, 1936 in Brown County, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Modie Cunningham and Mary Ellen Bond Cunningham. She married Robert Don "R. D." Caraway December 26, 1952 in Mexico. They raised their children in Decatur, Texas before moving to Cisco in 1980 to build their dream home. R. D. preceded her in death. She was a devout Christian, attended South Side Assembly of God Church in Decatur and later Cisco Church of the Nazarene. Always active in her church, she enjoyed playing the guitar and piano and singing, often with her daughters. She has written many Gospel Songs. Playing the guitar was her biggest passion. In the early 1950s she had the opportunity to perform with Johnny Cash. She also played and sang on the radio with Bob Wills and his band. She played at countless family reunions and during the 1980s she often performed at the Stephenville Opry. Survivors include three daughters, Ramona Nichols of Cisco, Donna Tackel and husband Clinton and Debbie Read and husband Mitchell all of Paradise; three sons, Robert Caraway and wife Sheila, Randy Caraway, and David Caraway and wife Carla all of Cisco; two sisters, Mildred Wade and husband William of Zephyr and Marian Morgan of San Antonio; twelve grandchildren, Paul, Jarrod, Chasiti, Whitnee, Rachael, Daniel, Amanda, Haleigh, Devin, Dylan, Kayla, and Candi; and sixteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Wilburn Cunningham and Earl Cunningham; and her husband R. D. Caraway. The family will receive friends 11:30 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cisco Church of the Nazarene, 1008 West 10th Street 76437. The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sweetwater Cemetery near Decatur, Texas. Pallbearers will be Jarrod Tackel, Brett Hamby, Daniel Ingram, Devin Caraway, Paul Nichols, and Cade Tackel SERVICES
