ALVIN N. GREGORY, age 89, a resident of Irving for 66 years, passed peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimers Disease on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. Born October 25, 1924 in Bailey, Texas, he was the son of Shellie P. Gregory, Sr. and Roxie Eldridge Gregory. A World War II veteran, he retired from General Motors after 32 years of service. He married Jean Stanley February 11, 1946 in Leonard, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2012. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he is survived by his daughters Karen Roberds and husband Ronnie of Natural Dam, Arkansas and Patricia Raspante and husband Don of Irving; grandsons, Joey Raspante of Irving and Chris Raspante and wife Camille of Nashville, Tennessee; sister, Mary Lovell of Garland, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family offers a special thanks to Vitas Hospice for their loving care and support. And also a special thank you is offered to Sue Boyd and the entire staff at Avalon where Alvin lived for two years, for their loving hearts and care of Pa Pa. Viewing is available from 6:00 9:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2013 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home, 606 W. Airport Freeway in Irving. The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
