Obituary

Allie Patricia "Pat" Dapeer (nee Meeks) Born May 8th, 1941 - Died September 14th, 2023 Allie, more commonly known as "Pat" to her family and friends, was born in San Angelo, Texas to Oscar Dillard Meeks and Lucile Goodwin in 1941. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Omer Lee Binion alongside her half-brothers Junior, Newell, William, and Hal. Following her mothers death in 1957, Pat was taken in by her Aunt Lavern and Uncle Newell Carroll and was raised alongside her cousins Buddy, Elton, and Carolyn in Sanderson, Texas where she would graduate from Sanderson High School in 1959. That same year, she married James DeFreese of Snyder, Texas with whom she would have three children: Chandra, Rider, and Pamela. No stranger to hard work, Pat would help her Uncles Bill and Floyd Binion in harvesting produce and cattle for the Ben E. Keith Company during her summers growing up. Having raised three children on her own, she worked hard to provide for her kids and did the best she could no matter the circumstance. Her most prominent occupation was as a truck driver for Safeway, Indian River, Koch, Gulf Oil, and Middleton Transportation. The only thing that got her to stop working was a career ending injury. Anyone who knew Pat knew that she valued family and friends above all else. Those that knew her would surely say that holidays and special occasions with her family and friends was some of the best times in her life. Up until her passing, she maintained a large network of extended family and friends with whom she cherished and spoke to regularly. Whether it was to check up on you, see how you were doing, or filling you in on how she was doing; rest assured, those who knew Pat as family and friend almost always had someone there to answer the phone if they called. It is for this reason, that Pat will be missed by all. We ask family and friends who desire to send flowers to please donate directly to the cost of services associated with Pats passing. You may do so by contacting Colonial Funeral Home of Irving, Texas.
