Abbie Davis, 79, a resident of Irving since 1967, died Monday, October 10, 2022 in Dallas. She was born January 20, 1943 in Asheville, North Carolina to the late Benjamin Burton Leavitt and Margaret Hannah Leavitt. She graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She worked in computer programming before becoming a banker. She married Robert "Bob" Davis March 19, 1964 in Gainesville, Florida. She was a member of Saint Francis Anglican Church of Dallas, the Red Hat Society, and the Kappa Delta Sorority.
Abbie lived her life as a selfless servant to others; she was happy when others were happy. She also found great joy in the garden, tending to her plants, yard, and the flowers that she nurtured. Tirelessly devoted to the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, and Stars; Abbie loved watching the games, especially during the holidays with the people, food, and Seasonal decorations she treasured. Abbie was most thankful for her family, Church, and the cherished friendship of her neighbors, Bob and Carol Ware.
Having survived raising five boys where she spent untold hours at the ballfields, choir concerts, and golf courses; Abbie was able to spend her later years comfortably at home with her beloved Bob. There was always something just around the corner that required preparation, and she was unfailingly excited and ready to host family, especially grandkids, for the occasion. When time and schedules permitted, Abbie enjoyed traveling the country with friends, appreciating the unique cultures and historic sites of her travels.
Survived by her loving husband Bob of Irving; five sons, Robert Davis, Jr. and wife Amy of Nashotah, Wisconsin, Douglas Davis and wife Karina of Austin, Wesley Davis and wife Sunshine of Mansfield, Paul Davis and wife Lisa of Gun Barrel City, and Matthew Davis and companion Rena Sefrhans of Seguin; nine grandchildren, Mae, Matthew, Elena, Carter, Loren, Harrison, Hadley, Preston, and Wyatt; and a great granddaughter, Kylie.
A Requiem Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Saint Francis Anglican Church, 3838 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, Texas 75229.
